Lee Initiatives was founded in 2005 and is the Legacy of the former Lee Hospital. Lee Initiatives is the philanthropic parent of Johnstown Medical Development Corporation and Walnut Management Corporation.

Annually Lee Initiatives provides grants to community organizations that are directed toward improving the life and health of the region served by the former Lee Hospital.  The grant cycle opens  in January of each year each year and then culminates in April of the following year with the awarding of grants.

Lee Initiatives is also involved in providing “Emily Lee Scholarships” to individuals enrolled in post high school health care studies, for those planning on entering healthcare careers and within the service area of the former Lee Hospital.   In 2020, twenty-eight, $2,000 scholarships were awarded.

Over the last fourteen years, Lee Initiatives has infused over 6 million dollars in the way of grants and donations to improve the health and well-being of all who live and work in this community.  Lee Initiatives has provided fiscal resources for energy assistance, after school programs, cancer research, the purchase of medical equipment and educational programs related to healthcare.
